This Month’s Quote
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

What To Celebrate In January
Laughter: The Best Medicine
Laughter reduces pain, increases job performance, connects people emotionally, and improves the flow of oxygen to the heart and brain.
Laughter, it's said, is the best medicine. And there's lots of evidence that laughter does lots of good things for us.
It reduces pain and allows us to tolerate discomfort.
It reduces blood sugar levels, increasing glucose tolerance in diabetics and nondiabetics alike.
It improves your job performance, especially if your work depends on creativity and solving complex problems. Its role in intimate relationships is vastly underestimated and it really is the glue of good marriages. It synchronizes the brains of speaker and listener so that they are emotionally attuned. Life in Moccasin Gap
It’s really not easy for a boy like me to make it as a professional comedian coming from a small place like Moccasin Gap. When I found out the road didn’t end at the edge of town, I left.
I never listened to my family and friends when they would say things like, “You’ll never make it.” “What if you bomb?” “What if they don’t like you?” “Why don’t you just stay here and get a real job in the mill?” a real job, in the mill? That’s not for me, I’m afraid.

Cherokee Prayer Blessing
May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.
