B.C. lived a relatively normal life growing up in a small North Carolina mill town. He graduated from high school and went on to be a top notch radio personality – then corporate takeover came along and B.C. found himself out of a job. He made a lot of bad choices during the next twenty years of his life. Then he moved back to his hometown from Chicago and met the woman he’s currently with and they now have two boys. His first son was born when he was 52 and the second was born when he was 55. B.C. hasn’t looked back since. His life is so much better now thanks to his two boys and they are the inspiration for his current book Daddyhood, a humorous, thought provoking and inspirational book about being a daddy that every parent should read.
An In-Demand Speaker
But B.C. is more than just a successful author. He is in such demand for personal appearances that he occasionally consents to speak to multiple audiences in the same city—on the same day! And still, his own schedule requires that he decline more engagements than he accepts.
Corporations, associations and civic groups have invited B.C. to address their employees, clients, or members. According to those who have witnessed what he accomplishes on stage, there are three things that differentiate B.C. from any other speaker they have seen.
1) He is that extremely rare communicator who can hold an audience spellbound for as long as he remains on stage. B.C. usually speaks for only an hour, but often for more than two as corporate clients demand his multimedia seminars—complete with music and a beautiful workbook for each member of the audience. Frequently, groups continue to applaud long after he leaves the stage. And B.C. always returns to answer questions and always stays afterward to talk and shake hands.
2) Corporations insist that "B.C. is not a motivational speaker! He is a teacher, a life coach." And the stories he utilizes to prove the principles he teaches dramatically affect people's climate, culture . . . and even their income. "Our employees' lives have been improved," exclaimed one executive. "And this undeniable shift in their level of knowledge, even how they value each other, translates financially to the company's bottom line. The stress level is so much lower now and we have saved a ton of money on medical insurance."
3) He is funny! B.C.’s speaking style is notably filled with humor. And it should be. B.C. spent twenty years working comedy clubs, colleges and auditoriums all over North America. He was runner up in the Mid-South Laugh Off in Nashville, has appeared on Showtime Cable, Comedy Central and the TNN Network. He has appeared at the Atlantis Sun Resort Casino in the Bahamas and the Plaza main room in Las Vegas
It was while touring as a comedian with such stars as Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Larry Gatlin and Barbara Mandrell that B.C. began to shift his onstage focus. He started by sprinkling his material with life principles and historical events and the audience ate it up.
B.C. has received certificates of appreciation from the US Navy, US Marines, US Army, the Virginia Country Music Association and the Rotary Clubs of America.
He currently lives with his wife and two sons in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.
